eBay Fee Calculator

Last verified October 2026 ⓘ What does this mean?
This calculator was manually reviewed to confirm current platform fees, plan details, and assumptions as of October 2026.

Platforms may update pricing or terms at any time.

eBay’s final value fee is not always one clean percentage. The category, Store subscription, order value, sales tax, advertising, and a few less glamorous account details can all change what the sale costs.

Enter the sale details below to estimate standard eBay.com US selling fees. The calculator shows the fee base eBay uses, the fees included in the estimate, and what remains before product cost, shipping expense, returns, and other business costs.

This is a selling-fee estimate, not a profit calculation. A sale can leave money after eBay fees and still lose money after inventory, postage, packaging, labor, and returns are deducted.

Sale details

Enter the amount charged for the item before shipping and sales tax.

Leave blank or enter 0 for free shipping. eBay generally includes this charge in the final-value-fee base.

eBay includes collected sales tax in the total amount used to calculate percentage-based fees.

Choose the closest published fee category. Narrow exceptions can use a different rate, so confirm the listing category in Seller Hub.

Seller and listing setup

Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise Stores use the published Store final value fee table. Starter uses the standard non-Store table.

This only changes the insertion fee for some Store levels.

Optional fees

Leave blank or enter 0 when the sale does not owe a General campaign ad fee. Priority campaigns use CPC pricing and are not estimated here.

Optional. Enter the actual total for subtitle, bold, second category, reserve price, or other listing upgrades.

Choose a surcharge only when eBay has told you it applies to the order.

Decision snapshot

Use the fee load to see how much room remains

Fee load compares the included eBay fees with the revenue available to the seller before business costs. It is a planning signal, not a verdict on the product.

Lower fee loadUnder 12%

The included eBay fees take a smaller share of seller revenue than the standard rate in many common categories.

Watch for
Inventory, postage, packaging, returns, labor, and Store subscription costs that are not included here.
Next move
Check full profit before assuming the remaining amount is available to pay you.
Common fee pressure12% to under 18%

The included fees create a noticeable gap between seller revenue and the amount remaining for the rest of the business.

Watch for
Sales tax in the fee base, the fixed order fee on lower prices, and assuming shipping charged is free revenue.
Next move
Test the full sale economics and compare nearby prices when the order is close to a category threshold.
High fee load18% or more

The selected eBay charges take a heavy share of seller revenue before the product and fulfillment costs begin.

Watch for
Promoted Listings, seller-performance surcharges, international fees, low order value, and an incorrect category.
Next move
Confirm every selected fee and reconsider the price, promotion, category, or listing strategy before relying on the sale.
How we’re defining this

The fee base is not the same as seller revenue

That distinction matters on eBay. Collected sales tax can increase percentage-based fees even though it is not revenue the seller keeps.

Seller revenueItem price plus shipping and handling charged to the buyer, before fees. Collected sales tax is excluded.
Percentage-fee baseItem price, shipping and handling charged, entered sales tax, and other applicable buyer charges represented by those fields.
Fee loadAll included eBay fees divided by seller revenue before fees.
Amount remainingSeller revenue minus the eBay fees included in this estimate. It is not profit.
Store discountBasic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise use eBay’s published Store final value fee table. Starter does not.

What this calculator covers

  • Published eBay.com US category final value fee rates and thresholds
  • The $0.30 per-order fee for orders of $10 or less and $0.40 for orders over $10
  • Published final value fee discounts for Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise Stores
  • Insertion fees when the listing is outside the selected Store plan’s free-listing allowance
  • Optional General Promoted Listings, international, seller-performance, and listing-upgrade fees entered by the user

The calculator does not estimate eBay Motors vehicle-sale fees, Classified Ads, eBay Live fees, dispute fees, currency conversion, sales tax charged on eBay fees, Priority campaign clicks, refunds, or fee credits. Monthly Store subscription costs are not allocated to one order.

Category exceptions and account-specific charges can change the result. Confirm the listing category and actual charges in Seller Hub before relying on the estimate. View eBay’s standard US selling fees or eBay Store selling fees.

How the eBay fee calculation works

For most eBay.com orders, the final value fee has two parts: a category percentage applied to the total amount of the sale and a fixed per-order fee. The total amount used for percentage fees can include the item price, shipping and handling charged to the buyer, collected sales tax, and other applicable buyer charges.

The calculator first identifies the correct published rate table from the category and Store level. It then applies any tiered rates, adds the $0.30 or $0.40 order fee, and includes only the optional charges selected or entered.

  • Seller revenue before fees = item price + shipping and handling charged
  • Percentage-fee base = item price + shipping and handling charged + entered sales tax
  • Total estimated eBay fees = category final value fee + order fee + selected optional fees
  • Amount remaining = seller revenue before fees − total estimated eBay fees

Sales tax is deliberately separated from seller revenue. It can increase the eBay fee calculation, but it is not treated as money the seller keeps. That small distinction is easy to miss and surprisingly good at making a quick estimate look better than the eventual payout.

Worked example

A $25 item with $5 shipping and $1.80 sales tax

Assume the listing is in a standard category, the seller has no eBay Store, and the order does not owe an insertion fee, advertising fee, international fee, or performance surcharge.

The percentage-fee base is $31.80: $25.00 item price + $5.00 shipping + $1.80 sales tax. A 13.6% category fee is $4.32 after rounding. Because the total amount is over $10, the order fee is $0.40.

Total estimated eBay fees are $4.72. Seller revenue before fees is $30.00, leaving $25.28 before inventory, postage, packaging, returns, labor, and other business costs.

Why eBay Store level changes the estimate

A Starter Store provides additional Store tools and listing benefits, but it uses the standard non-Store final value fee table. Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise Store subscribers use eBay’s Store final value fee table, which can lower the category percentage or change the threshold where a lower rate begins.

The monthly Store subscription is not assigned to this order. If you want to understand whether a Store subscription pays for itself, compare the monthly fee savings across your expected sales volume instead of hiding the entire subscription inside one sale.

What the amount remaining does not tell you

The amount remaining is useful because it isolates the platform-fee decision. It is not the same as take-home profit. The calculator does not know what the item cost, what the shipping label cost, how much packaging was used, whether the buyer returns the order, or how much time the seller spent sourcing, listing, and fulfilling it.

Use the result as the first layer of the decision. If the fee load already looks uncomfortable, adding normal business costs will not rescue the margin through sheer optimism. If the fee load looks manageable, the next job is still to test the full profit.

eBay Fee Calculator FAQs

What fees does this eBay calculator include?

The calculator estimates the published eBay.com US category final value fee and per-order fee. It can also include an insertion fee, General Promoted Listings ad rate, international fee, seller-performance surcharge, and a user-entered listing-upgrade amount when those charges apply.

Does eBay charge its final value fee on shipping and sales tax?

Generally, yes. eBay defines the total amount of the sale to include the item price, handling charges, shipping collected from the buyer, sales tax, and other applicable fees. Some shipping exceptions apply. This calculator includes the shipping and sales tax amounts entered by the user in the percentage-fee base.

Why is the per-order fee sometimes $0.30 and sometimes $0.40?

For most applicable eBay.com orders, the per-order fee is $0.30 when the total amount of the sale is $10 or less and $0.40 when it is over $10. Eligible athletic shoes priced at $150 or more do not have the per-order fee under the published fee schedule.

Do eBay Store sellers pay lower final value fees?

Basic, Premium, Anchor, and Enterprise Store subscribers use eBay’s published Store final value fee table, which has lower rates in many categories. Starter Store subscribers use the standard non-Store final value fee table. The monthly Store subscription is not included in this per-order calculator.

Does this calculator include Promoted Listings fees?

It can estimate a General Promoted Listings fee when you enter the ad rate. General campaign fees are percentage-based when an attributed sale occurs. Priority campaigns use cost-per-click pricing, so their click costs cannot be reliably calculated from the sale amount and are excluded.

Is the amount remaining after eBay fees my profit?

No. It is seller revenue after the eBay fees included in the estimate. Product cost, postage paid, packaging, labor, returns, refunds, Store subscription costs, income taxes, and other business expenses still need to be deducted before you know the profit.

Does this calculator work for eBay Motors vehicles or international eBay sites?

No. The calculator is designed for ordinary eBay.com US listings, including supported Motors parts and accessories categories. Vehicle-sale fees, Classified Ads, eBay Live, and fee schedules for other eBay country sites use different rules and are outside this estimate.
