Enter the revenue you need remaining after Stripe’s processing fee. This estimate uses Stripe’s standard US rate of 2.9% + $0.30 for a successful domestic online card transaction.
Fee breakdown
What this means
To have $100.00 remaining after the estimated Stripe fee, charge $103.30. The estimated processing fee would be $3.30.
The target amount is revenue remaining after Stripe processing, not profit. Product costs, shipping, advertising, refunds, and other business expenses still need to be deducted.
Why adding the fee to your target can leave you short
Stripe calculates its percentage fee from the full amount charged to the customer, including the extra amount added to cover processing. If you simply add 2.9% + $0.30 to the revenue you need, Stripe also charges 2.9% on that added amount.
The difference may be small on one transaction, but it means the result can fall below your target. A reverse calculation works backward from the amount you need remaining and accounts for Stripe’s cent-level rounding before producing the estimated customer charge.
Stripe Reverse Fee Calculator FAQs
What fee does this Stripe reverse fee calculator use?
This calculator uses Stripe’s standard US rate of 2.9% + $0.30 for a successful domestic online card transaction. It does not represent every Stripe payment method, transaction type, or account. International cards, currency conversion, manual card entry, and custom pricing can change the actual fee.
What does this calculator show?
It estimates the customer payment required to leave a specific amount of revenue after Stripe’s processing fee. For example, if you need $100.00 remaining, the calculator estimates a $103.30 customer payment and a $3.30 processing fee under the standard rate.
The amount remaining is not a final profit or guaranteed bank payout. Other Stripe charges, product costs, shipping, advertising, refunds, and business expenses are not included.
Why can’t I simply add 2.9% + $0.30 to the amount I need?
Stripe calculates its percentage fee from the total customer payment, including the extra amount added to cover the fee. Simply adding 2.9% + $0.30 to your target can leave you slightly short.
A reverse calculator solves the formula from the other direction and then applies Stripe’s cent-level rounding so the displayed charge and fee reconcile with the amount you need remaining.
Does this include international cards or custom Stripe pricing?
No. Stripe currently adds 1.5% for international cards, another 1% when currency conversion is required, and 0.5% for manually entered cards. Other payment methods and custom account pricing can also use different rates.
Use the calculator only when Stripe’s standard US domestic online card rate is a reasonable match for the transaction you are estimating.
Is the amount remaining after the Stripe fee profit?
No. It is revenue remaining after the estimated Stripe processing fee. Profit can only be estimated after product costs, shipping, platform fees, advertising, refunds, and other relevant business expenses are deducted.
The reverse calculator can help protect the amount available to cover those costs, but it does not determine whether the sale itself is profitable.
Why is the minimum target amount $0.19?
Stripe generally requires an ordinary USD charge to be at least $0.50. Under the standard rate, the estimated fee on a $0.50 payment is $0.31, leaving $0.19 after processing.
That makes $0.19 the smallest exact target this calculator can produce while respecting Stripe’s standard USD minimum charge.
Disclaimer: This calculator estimates the amount to charge using Stripe’s standard US pricing for a successful domestic online card transaction, verified in August 2026. Actual fees and the amount remaining may vary by account, country, payment method, transaction type, rounding, and optional Stripe products.
